Cleaning the monitorĭirt, fingerprints, and dust can make your computer screen difficult to read however, it's easy to clean your screen when needed.
Some of the dust and particles should rub off onto the paper. If you just want to give the mouse a quick cleaning, place it on a clean sheet of paper and move the mouse back and forth. If you are connecting it to a PS/2 port, you will need to connect it before turning on the computer.
Allow all of the parts to dry before reassembling and reconnecting the mouse. Then clean the tracking ball and the inside of the mouse with a cotton cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol. If you have a mechanical mouse, remove the tracking ball by turning the ball-cover ring counter-clockwise. Moisten a cotton cloth with rubbing alcohol, and use it to clean the top and bottom of the mouse. If the mouse is plugged into the PS/2 port, you will need to shut down the computer before unplugging it. Unplug the mouse from the USB or PS/2 port. Optical mice require no internal cleaning because they do not contain any rotating parts however, they can get sticky over time as dust collects near the light emitter. To prevent this situation altogether, we recommend keeping drinks away from the computer area. Please note that the keyboard may not be fixable at this point, but the method above is probably the best option. Then turn the keyboard upside down to drain for two days before reconnecting it. If the liquid is sticky, you will need to hold the keyboard on its side under running water to rinse away the sticky liquid. Then turn the keyboard upside down and allow the liquid to drain. If you spill liquid on the keyboard, quickly shut down the computer and disconnect the keyboard. Reconnect the keyboard to the computer once it is dry. Leave your laptop in this position for at least twenty-four hours. This prevents the liquid from reaching your hard drive. Use a flat surface so the liquid drains out evenly. Open the laptop as far as you can (it should be in a "V" shape) and turn it upside-down on a towel. Clean the outside of the laptop with toilet paper or an absorbent cloth. If water gets in the battery, it may short out. 
If there's a removable panel on the back of your machine, open it and dislodge the battery. Remove flash drives and external network cards as well. Unplug your mouse, AC adapter, and any other cables. This is useful, especially if your keyboard isn't responding. That means holding the power button until the screen goes black. The first thing you need to do is a hard shutdown. While your data is safe, the your hard drive might be in trouble. 
What do you do now? Well, for starters, you need to act fast. As the water makes its way down into the inner chambers of your machine, you panic, your heart smashing against your rib cage. So you've just spilled an entire glass of water on your laptop. The trick is this: The type of liquid matters just as much as the amount. Whether it's water or soda, there are a couple of ways you can save your machine. What do you do now? Well, the first thing is to take a deep breath. As you watch it seep into the crevices, your chest tightens. So, you've accidentally doused your laptop in liquid.
